Just In: Texas Rangers Top Stars Aiming for Midsummer Returns

It seems like both Max Scherzer and Jacob deGrom, multiple-Cy Young Award winners, are on the path to recovery and aiming to return to the Texas Rangers’ rotation in the middle of the summer.

Max Scherzer, a three-time Cy Young winner, underwent surgery in December to repair a herniated disk in his lower back. Despite missing part of the regular season and the early playoff rounds, he contributed to the Rangers’ successful World Series run. Scherzer expressed optimism about his recovery, mentioning that he is progressing well after the surgery. He described the process of overcoming the post-surgery period and is now focused on building back up to return to the field. Scherzer’s experience and track record, with 3,367 strikeouts, make him a valuable asset for the Rangers.

Jacob deGrom, a two-time Cy Young winner, is also on the road to recovery after elbow surgery that cut short his Rangers debut after only six starts. DeGrom is planning to resume throwing in the spring and is currently following a plyometric training program. He emphasized the importance of taking a cautious approach to ensure his long-term pitching career. DeGrom’s return to the rotation is expected to bolster the Rangers’ pitching staff.

Both pitchers expressed eagerness to contribute to the team’s success and are targeting a return around the trade deadline, likening it to acquiring new players for the team. The Rangers, having won the World Series, are optimistic about the prospect of having Scherzer and deGrom back in the rotation, further strengthening their pitching prowess.
