Breaking News: The Giants are not Expected to Receive Compensatory Draft Picks in 2024.

The NFL is set to reveal its annual compensatory draft picks soon, and according to Nick Korte of Over the Cap, the New York Giants are not expected to be among the teams receiving additional draft picks. Korte’s analysis points out that the Giants missed out on potential compensatory picks due to the signings and losses of certain free agents in 2022. The departures of safety Julian Love (signed with Seattle) and offensive lineman Nick Gates (signed with Washington) could have resulted in extra sixth-round picks for the Giants.

However, these potential compensations were negated by the signings of receiver Parris Campbell from the Colts and defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson from the Rams. Despite Robinson being a positive addition, Campbell’s lack of a clear role and eventual healthy scratches contributed to the Giants missing out on compensatory picks. Additionally, signings like linebacker Bobby Okereke and defensive lineman Rakeem Nunez-Roches meant that the Giants signed more players than they lost, further diminishing the likelihood of receiving compensatory picks. As a result, the Giants are projected to have seven picks in the 2024 draft, including four within the top 70 selections. One of these picks (No. 47) was acquired through the Leonard Williams trade with the Seattle Seahawks, and the Giants currently have one pick in each of the fourth through sixth rounds.
