Super Bowl Shocker: Patrick Mahomes’ Father Pat Faces DWI Arrest Just Days Before the Big Game.

Patrick Mahomes Sr., father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was apprehended in Tyler, Texas, on suspicion of DWI, as confirmed by Parade.

Local media reports on Sunday disclosed that the 53-year-old Mahomes Sr. was taken into custody at Smith County Jail. Public records indicate that the Tyler Police Department booked him on Saturday, Feb. 3, citing driving while intoxicated for the third time or more as the charge. A $10,000 bond was set.

Parade sought comment from the Tyler Police Department on Feb. 4, through phone and email. Online jail records reveal Mahomes Sr.’s previous DWI arrest in 2018, for which he pleaded guilty in February 2019 and received a 40-day county jail sentence.

The arrest and DWI charges coincide with Mahomes Sr.’s son gearing up to face the San Francisco 49ers in the 2024 Super Bowl on Feb. 11. This marks the younger Mahomes’ fourth Super Bowl appearance in just six NFL seasons, with the Chiefs making their fourth appearance in five years.

The quarterback’s father, a former professional baseball pitcher, has been a visible presence at Chiefs games this NFL season. Mahomes Sr. has also commented on the relationship between pop star Taylor Swift and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, considering Kelce “like another son.”

Having met Swift, he praised her as “down to Earth” and “very nice and genuine” in a TikTok video last month. Despite reaching out to the Chiefs for comment, Parade has not received an immediate response.
