Done Deal: Rams Have Sealed a Deal for Defensive Coordinator

The Los Angeles Rams have promoted Chris Shula to the position of defensive coordinator, succeeding Raheem Morris.

At 37 years old, Shula, who has been with the Rams for seven seasons and in the NFL for nine years, previously served as the linebackers coach and pass rush coordinator in 2023. Notably, under his guidance, linebacker Ernest Jones had an outstanding season, breaking a franchise record with 145 total tackles. Shula’s Rams journey began in 2017 as an assistant linebackers coach, with subsequent roles coaching outside linebackers and defensive backs.

In the 2021 season, he played a role in developing Jones into a significant contributor, and in 2022, he contributed to the Rams’ secondary recording 12 interceptions. Before the Rams, Shula started his NFL coaching career as a defensive quality control coach for the San Diego Chargers in 2015 and 2016.
