First on the list is tight end Darren Waller, acquired from the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for a third-round pick.
While initially seen as a valuable addition to bolster Jones’ development, Waller’s production dipped, hampered by injuries and declining performance. With a hefty salary of $14.5 million and advancing age, his tenure with the Giants appears precarious, especially with promising prospects like Georgia’s Brock Bowers in consideration.
Another player under scrutiny is guard Mark Glowinski, who struggled to maintain a starting role throughout the 2023 season.
With Schoen eyeing upgrades across the offensive line, Glowinski’s inability to secure a permanent starting spot suggests his time with the Giants may be up, leading to potential cap savings of nearly $6 million.
Lastly, kicker Graham Gano, despite his stellar performance in 2022, faltered in 2023, plagued by injuries and a decline in accuracy.
With a hefty salary of $7.2 million and advancing age, the Giants may opt for a younger, more cost-effective alternative, especially considering their pressing needs in other areas of the roster.
