Greenard secured a four-year, $76 million contract with $42 million guaranteed, while Cashman agreed to a three-year, $25.5 million deal. Van Ginkel’s contract details include a two-year, $20 million agreement with $14 million guaranteed, though the deal awaits finalization.

Vikings To Sign LB Andrew Van Ginkel

With Cousins departing for the Atlanta Falcons, the Vikings prioritized shoring up their defense, which lacked depth and experienced injuries in the previous season. Greenard, coming off a career-best 12.5 sacks in 2023, brings pass-rushing prowess and run-stopping ability, while Van Ginkel and Cashman add versatility and experience to the linebacking corps.

The flurry of defensive signings suggests impending departures for key players like Danielle Hunter, D.J. Wonnum, and Jordan Hicks, who are set to become free agents. Additionally, uncertainties surround the return of Marcus Davenport, who battled injuries last season.

The Vikings also retained depth along the offensive line by re-signing Blake Brandel and David Quessenberry. However, the quarterback position remains a focal point for further additions, with both veteran and rookie options likely to be pursued.

Furthermore, the defensive backfield is poised for reinforcements, especially at cornerback, where depth beyond Byron Murphy is lacking. With uncertainties surrounding veteran Harrison Smith’s return and inconsistent performances from young players, the Vikings aim to address defensive shortcomings to fortify their roster for the upcoming season.
