Browns Bolster Backfield: New Addition Adds Depth to Ground Game

After witnessing star running back Nick Chubb endure a season-ending knee injury last season, the Cleveland Browns are taking proactive measures to bolster their backfield for the upcoming 2024 season. This includes adding another running back to their roster, ensuring they have sufficient depth and options in their running game.

D'Onta Foreman and more Tennessee Titans takeaways from win over Saints

Per Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, the Cleveland Browns are set to sign running back D’Onta Foreman, who previously played for the Chicago Bears during the 2023 season.

Foreman’s recent performance has been less than stellar, as he only managed to accumulate 425 yards rushing and four touchdowns across nine games last season. Nonetheless, the Cleveland Browns are likely hopeful that they’ll be acquiring the version of Foreman who showcased his potential in 2022. During that season, Foreman impressed while playing for the Carolina Panthers, tallying 914 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

Although Cleveland anticipates Nick Chubb to make a complete recovery and resume his role as the primary ball carrier at the start of the season, D’Onta Foreman provides valuable insurance. Standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 235 pounds, Foreman has demonstrated his ability to shoulder a significant workload when required. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Foreman has consistently delivered impressive performances, amassing 80 or more yards in every game where he’s received at least 16 carries since 2022, totaling eight games.
